Three Nottingham Forest players fighting for their futures ahead of January
Nottingham Forest have some big calls to make over the future of some of their players ahead of the January transfer window.
Whilst all the focus remains on where £100million man Elliot Anderson will go at the end of January, the Garibaldi remain focused on producing a quality transfer window.
Sean Dyche has been getting ahead of the opening of the transfer market already with Nottingham Forest already making enquiries about Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan.
Yet, there are some players that may struggle to continue being a part of the squad at the City Ground as Football Insider picks out those who will have to fight for their futures or risk being sold in January.

Taiwo Awoniyi
The 28-year-old has been at Forest since 2022-23 but has slowly become merely a benchwarmer in recent seasons.
Taiwo Awoniyi‘s minutes have been slowly declining year-on-year at the City Ground as it appears glaringly obvious he is surplus to requirements.
The arrival of Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo have forced the Nigerian even further down Dyche’s pecking order, adding further woes to the striker’s hopes of becoming a key player under the latest manager.

Although out injured until around the middle of December, the ex-Union Berlin frontman will have to drastically improve his efforts both in training and on the pitch, or risk being sold in January due to the plethora of attacking options the club already has.
Willy Boly
Previously an integral component of the Wolves backline, the move to Nottingham Forest hasn’t been the ideal move the Ivorian perhaps thought it would be.
Willy Boly has dipped to the bottom of the pecking order at the City Ground and has only featured in two matches so far this campaign.
Moreover, with the 34-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, time is ticking for the defender to win a fresh new deal.
It certainly seems like an uphill task, yet all it takes are further injuries to Nikola Milenkovic and Morato to open up a centre-back spot for the number 30 to potentially gain some faith from the manager.
Nicolas Dominguez
Having featured just nine times for the Garibaldi after a summer-long injury, Nicolas Dominguez will be desperate to get some more minutes under his belt.
The Argentine is in his third season in Nottingham, but has not been able to force his way back into the starting XI that he featured in on a regular basis under Nuno Espirito Santo last season.
At 27-years-old and with a contract running until June 2028, owner Evangelos Marinakis may identify the midfielder as a possible cash cow to ship on to raise significant funds for reinvestment in strengthening the squad.
The number 16 will likely be wary of Forest’s new cutthroat transfer policy as they seek to become a top club for the foreseeable future, capable of dropping expendable stars.
