Three players Daniel Farke could sign as Leeds transfer priority revealed ahead of January

Daniel Farke is in desperate need of more attackers if Leeds United are to survive the battle against Premier League relegation.

With just 11 points from their first 11 games of the 2025-26 campaign, Farke is under growing pressure as Leeds boss, and the team’s run of games get no easier after losing to Nottingham Forest.

Despite spending over £100million on transfers during the summer transfer window, the Whites have a real weakness through the middle, with neither Dominic Calvert-Lewin nor Lukas Nmecha impressing.

Calvert-Lewin has scored just one goal since arriving at Elland Road, with Joe Rodon and Noah Okafor joining Nmecha at the top of the scoring list with two each.

However, Football Insider understands that, ahead of January, Leeds’ priority is to sign a winger, and with that in mind, here are three players that could make the switch to West Yorkshire.

Daizen Maeda

While the Japanese international is much more natural through the middle, it is understood that Daizen Maeda is looking to leave Celtic, as drama continues to unfold in Scotland.

Elland Road could provide an easy exit route for the forward, and with his international teammate, Ao Tanaka already at the club, he might have had some whispers in his ear over the last couple of weeks.

With 33 goal and 11 assists in all competitions last season, Maeda could thrive in the Premier League, but it the club might prefer someone who is already proven in England.

Jonathan Rowe

Although Jonathan Rowe made a name for himself in the Championship, multiple Premier League clubs were keeping tabs on the 22-year-old before his failed move to Marseille in 2024.

He lasted just one season before falling out with Roberto De Zerbi, and while he only joined new club Bologna during the summer, his impact has not been what the youngster would have hoped.

Now, he is set to be sidelined for a few weeks, but once the January transfer window, he could be ready and available for Leeds to take a chance on him. They’ve been linked with him before.

Harry Wilson

The Whites tried incredibly hard to sign Harry Wilson just a couple of months ago, but Fulham were unwilling to let the Welshman go. Now, there is talk of a new contract for the winger.

He has been given more opportunities by Marco Silva this season, having been able to keep fit for much longer than normal, but he is still fighting for his spot in the starting lineup.

Should Farke’s side go back into his signature, multiple of his international teammates would be there to welcome him, including Rodon, Dan James, Ethan Ampadu, and Karl Darlow. It’s a match made in heaven.
