Midfielder tumbles down pecking order: Three Rangers players who must be sold before deadline
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has, alongside director of football Mark Allen, embarked on a sizeable rebuilding job of the squad he inherited in October from Pedro Caixinha with no fewer than five new faces arriving at Ibrox so far this month.
Sean Goss, Jason Cummings, Russell Martin, Jamie Murphy and Greg Docherty have all been added to the Light Blues squad as they aim for Scottish Cup success and to – at a minimum – secure second in the Scottish Championship.
The Gers now have a pretty large first-team squad with around 30 senior players on the books at Ibrox plus a host of talented youngsters looking to make the breakthrough from the club’s Academy.
With only a few days of the transfer window remaining, Murty may look to strip his squad back a little and find a way to get some of those who are unlikely to feature much, if at all, before the summer moved on elsewhere.
So far, only Carlos Pena has left this month with Danny Wilson reportedly expected to complete a move to Colorado Rapids soon.
Even with the Ibrox giants having a number of first-team players out injured there are still a handful of senior players doing very little to warrant remaining at Ibrox when the calendar turns over to February 1st and the transfer window slams shut.
