Three Rangers players sweating over first-team spot during international break - opinion

COMMENT By James Black

The current international break means Rangers will be out of action until October 13 when they travel to face St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

With Pedro Caixinha’s squad having faced a mini injury crisis in recent weeks, the Gers have been forced to field a makeshift side at times but the two week break should see them return with a near-full strength squad.

Bruno Alves, Niko Kranjcar, Lee Wallace and Jordan Rossiter have all been missing from Rangers’ squad recently and all but captain Wallace should all be fit to return after the internationals.

As the Gers get closer to full strength, several of the players who have started in recent weeks will face an anxious wait to see if they retain their starting place or if Caixinha re-instates his perceived first-choices.

Football Insider looks at three players who could find themselves on the sidelines when the Gers return to action on October 13.
