28-year-old to finally score: Three things to expect from Chelsea in clash with Bournemouth
COMMENT By Danny Wright
Chelsea travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to take on Bournemouth in the next chapter of their Premier League title campaign.
A win could see Antonio Conte and his men take further strides towards the league title with Tottenham in hot pursuit.
Here, Football Insider analyses three things we can expect from Conte’s side against the Cherries.
28-year-old to finally score
Diego Costa is due a goal for Chelsea and Saturday’s clash is the perfect time to break his duck. His form has waned in recent weeks and he is facing the axe from the starting line-up if he fails to start scoring regularly again. Costa has scored just twice in his last eight league outings, which isn’t the hallmark of a starting striker for the team that’s top of the league. Bournemouth, although exciting in attack, are weak in defence and this should be the perfect time for Costa to strike. He missed the home tie against the Cherries earlier this season through suspension and even then his teammates went on to secure a 3-0 win without him.

Conte and Eddie Howe are two of the most exciting managers in the league. They’re both passionate in their approach to the game but also their tactical knowledge is what has led them to enjoy such thriving careers. Howe has made himself into one of England’s best tacticians and we can expect Saturday’s clash to be more like a game of chess than a football match – although more physical and aggressive than the regular board game is perceived. Conte should have done a lot of homework on the Cherries attack because it could cause several problems to Chelsea’s defence.
Return to full strength
Chelsea don’t have any fresh injury concerns for their visit to the south coast so Conte should be able to field his strongest team. Victor Moses has missed the last two matches with a toe injury and he has returned to training this week. When the team sheet is revealed on Saturday it will give us a big indication as to what Conte thinks his best team is. Question marks surround Cesc Fabregas and Kurt Zouma who haven’t featured as much as they would have hoped recently so his team selection could a long way in suggesting the future of the pair.
