Boyata needs a rest
The fact that Celtic only have three centre-backs has a huge toll on the backline when they’re not all fit.
Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko are currently sidelined with injury and there is no clear indication about when the duo will be able to return.
One thing that is clear though is that Boyata could do with a rest.
He wasn’t at his best against Aberdeen and he had admitted pre-game that he is starting to feel fatigued having been rushed back from a long-term knee injury.
It will be very tough for Rodgers to give Boyata a game on the sidelines due to the injury crisis, but Nir Bitton showed that he is more than capable of playing on centre-back against the Dons with a much-improved performance.
