23-year-old has a shocker, must be sold: Three things we learned about Everton in loss v Swansea
COMMENT By Matt Bullin
Football Insider analyses the three hottest talking points from Everton’s 1-0 loss to Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
On the beach
It is often said that teams who have nothing to play for towards the end of their league campaign are ‘on the beach’. Having already cemented seventh, and with a top-six finish looking highly unlikely, it could be argued that Everton have nothing to play for anymore and it certainly looked that way in the first 45. The Toffees were well and truly ‘on the beach’, as Swansea were the first to every second ball, their pressing was more intense and they were stronger in the tackle.
Lukaku should be sold
Romelua Lukaku is undoubtedly one of the top strikers in the world on his day, but his day does not come often enough. He was poor against Chelsea and he had a shocker at Swansea. He does not do enough to bring his teammates into the game, and if he is not receiving the ball to feet he offers very little. He is without a goal in three and if he is no longer interested in playing for Ronald Koeman he must be sold this summer while they can still cash in.

Kenny is one for the future
Jonjoe Kenny may have only featured for 12 minutes but he looked an accomplished player. His delivery was far better than Mason Holgate, who actually had a decent game, and he was genuinely dangerous going forward. The 20-year-old is the latest Toffees talent coming off the academy production line, and like Holgate and Tom Davies, he looks full of potential and ready to step into the starting XI when needed.
In other Everton news, fans reactions were divided as this 23-year-old was benched for the match against Swansea.
