Senior player like Andy Halliday: Three things learned about Rangers in loss v Motherwell

COMMENT By James Black

Motherwell secured their place in the Scottish League Cup final with a 2-0 win over Rangers at Hampden on Sunday.

Louis Moult’s second-half double booked the Steelmen’s place in the final against Celtic next month after a fiery clash at Hampden.

Both managers were sent to the stands while at least three players could have also been sent off in one of the worst refereeing performances seen in a long time.

Pedro Caixinha now has to lift his side for the visit of Kilmarnock on Wednesday night and will almost certainly be missing Fabio Cardoso after the defender’s nose was splattered across his face after a vicious elbow by Ryan Bowman.

Caixinha’s side were unable to end their unwanted record of failing to win three consecutive games under the former Santos Laguna manager, who is coming under serious pressure over his future.

Here, Football Insider, looks at three things we learned from the Hampden defeat to Motherwell.
