Finalising 22-yr-old deal is no brainer: Three things learned about Rangers in win v Hearts

COMMENT

Rangers got back to winning ways after last weekend’s 4-0 Scottish Cup humiliation by Celtic when the eased past Hearts 2-1 at Ibrox on Sunday to return to second place in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues were faced with a tense atmosphere at Ibrox after last weekend’s Hampden horror show but came out of the blocks quickly and dominated much of the game against the Jambos.

Despite going in with the score at 0-0 at half-time, Murty’s side quickly established an advantage after the break through Jason Cummings’ striker before a Daniel Candeias header made it 2-0.

Hearts pulled one back through Christophe Berra but the Light Blues held on and picked up a vital three points to climb back above Aberdeen on goal difference in the league.

The result means Celtic could win their seventh successive Scottish title next weekend when the Gers visit Celtic Park although the Ibrox giants will be desperate to avoid the ignominy of having to watch their bitter rivals celebrate a title success.
