Tielemans and Ramsey react to Alex Moreno’s message amid Aston Villa exit whispers
Youri Tielemans and Jacob Ramsey have reacted to Aston Villa teammate Alex Moreno on social media amid suggestions he could depart the club this summer.
Moreno spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Villa, but made 19 appearances for the club as he was largely restricted to a place on the bench due to Neco Williams’ strong form.
He has now returned to Unai Emery’s squad after his spell in the East Midlands, but looks set to be on the move again after Football Insider revealed last month that Moreno was open to a move to Leeds this summer due to a likely lack of opportunities behind both Lucas Digne and Ian Maatsen.
Daniel Farke is in the market for left-back reinforcements after Junior Firpo left Elland Road at the end of his contract last month despite the Whites’ return to the Premier League.
Digne has been targeted by Atletico Madrid, but that has not stopped rumours of Moreno being set to leave the Second City after Football Insider also reported in June that Leeds had made contact with Villa over a move for the 32-year-old.

Moreno posts pre-season update after Villa return
Moreno is still a Villa player, and may well have plans of staying at the club after their return to training ahead of the new season this week.
The left-back took to Instagram on Wednesday (9 July) to share a new update of him in Villa training-wear, with numerous photos of him working hard accompanied by the simple caption of: “Preseason” with a flexed bicep emoji.
Moreno’s new post was reacted to by a number of current and former teammates, with Tielemans, Ramsey, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ola Aina, Murillo and Nico Dominguez all leaving a like.
Leeds have moved on but Villa exit still likely for Moreno
Football Insider verdict
Leeds were interested in Moreno’s signature earlier in the summer, but the Whites recently moved to sign Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille, who primarily plays at left-back, so it looks as if their pursuit of Moreno is over for now.
With that said, it would still be a surprise to see the 32-year-old remain in Emery’s squad for the duration of the 2025/26 campaign, given his age and the fact that Digne and Maatsen remain ahead of him in the pecking order as it stands.

The Spaniard has played over 50 times in the English top-flight, and also has experience in multiple European competitions, so it seems a no-brainer for another Premier League team to sign him soon, especially if they are in the market for a new left-back.
Moreno was linked to both Sunderland and Burnley earlier in the window by Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, and a switch to either of those clubs would make sense ahead of the new season, or a move back to Spain could appeal, with Betis and Real Sociedad both also believed to be tracking his availability.
