Tino Livramento: Newcastle fans want star ‘investigated’ after Brian Brobbey’s Sunderland winner
Newcastle United supporters are furious with Tino Livramento after Sunderland won the Tyne-Wear derby late on at St James’ Park.
Regis Le Bris’ side completed the double over the Magpies during their first season back in the Premier League, with Anthony Gordon’s opener being cancelled out by Chemsdine Talbi and Brian Brobbey.
The result puts Eddie Howe under tremendous pressure, and ahead of the summer, it is not just a change of manager that the supporters are pushing for anymore.
Newcastle must next face Crystal Palace after falling to 12th in the Premier League table. The fans, however, are unlikely to get over the Tyne-Wear defeat anytime soon, and understandably so.

Newcastle fans have picked on Livramento after the Magpies conceded a Brobbey’s 90th-minute winner at the weekend, having allowed the striker to wander into the six-yard box unmarked.
Accusing him of betting against his own team, one supporter wants the 23-year-old substitute “investigated,” while Howe was “dared” not to play him in a Newcastle shirt ever again.
Supporters simply cannot believe his lack of awareness in the build-up to the goal, with many sending clear messages to Thomas Tuchel following his call-up to the England squad.
- @brobson_sport: “What was Livramento doing for their second, winning goal? He was just standing, 4 yards away from the Sunderland goal scorer, watching.”
- @AATalksBall: “Nah, this is still frying me. WHAT is Livramento doing? Even if he’d reacted late, he could’ve cut it out as Ramsdale saves the first attempt.”
- @coreysweet17: “Do not ever ever ever tell me Livramento is a good defender, state of that last goal, his defending is honestly barbarically bad.”
England international had a bright cameo until Brian Brobbey’s goal
Replacing Kieran Trippier in the 65th minute, Livramento was expected to add a much-needed attacking outlet to the squad, as well as some consolidation in the back line at St James’ Park.
| Tino Livramento vs Sunderland | Stats [FotMob] |
| Minutes played | 25 |
| Touches | 24 |
| Passing accuracy | 82% (9/11) |
| Tackles | 1 |

In 25 minutes, he had 24 touches, fired off a shot, made one tackle and two recoveries, as well as winning two fouls and 75 per cent of his ground duels, but all of that was undone in one moment.
Without Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, the Magpies really struggled to make a dent in the second half, but that doesn’t excuse players who can’t do the basics in a derby.
Supporters will be furious over the result for weeks, and understandably so. Livramento will be under pressure as well, but he’ll be able to bounce back from it.
