If Bayern Munich can pull off the capture of Mauricio Pochettino this summer it will undoubtedly go down as the deal of the summer.
The brains behind the White Hart Lane operation has fast become one of Europe’s most wanted after masterminding the Lillywhites growth domestically and on the European scene.
Under Poch, Spurs have become a force to be reckoned with and his side, a team to fear, so it’s no surprise to hear that first Real Madrid were in the hunt for former Espanyol man, and now Bayern Munich.
And now, after the year on year improvement the club has made, the news that the Tottenham faithful have been dreading has arrived.
Former Liverpool ace Dietmar Hamann has revealed that the Bundesliga giants have made contact with the Argentinian.
As quoted in The Sun, the ex-midfielder said: “I know Bayern have been in contact with Pochettino and that he was an option – and might still be.
“Some say the Bayern coach should be a German, it might be one area of importance, but not the only one.
“Even Pep [Guardiola] was not perfect. It is about picking the best coach possible.
“For me, that man is Pochettino.”
With Jupp Heynckes only in charge until the end of the season following Carlo Ancelotti’s dismissal, the Bavarian outfit will be on the look-out for a top class appointment and Pochettino can certainly be that.
Whether a move to the Allianz Arena would appeal to the 46-year-old isn’t known and with an improved deal only signed last October, the cards all lie with Daniel Levy who can refuse the advances of the Euro giant.
Spurs will be desperate to hang onto their manager whose potential exit could be the catalysis for many others.
