Title-winning manager Euro manager would be major gamble for Rangers
Rangers could be set to bring Frank de Boer to Ibrox as manager in the summer, according to the latest bookies’ odds, but the 47-year-old would be a massive gamble for the Light Blues.
BetVictor have priced de Boer at 2/1 to replace Graeme Murty in the Ibrox hot seat in time for next season while Michael O’Neill (8/1) and Steve Clarke (8/1) are also among the frontrunners and only serve to show the lacklustre market the Gers are operating in.
De Boer is arguably the pick of the bunch but his track record leaves a lot to be desired and raises some serious questions over whether he is the man to take the Light Blues forward.
The Dutchman’s spell at Ajax was an unparalleled success, winning four Eredivisie titles, but he has since had two other jobs – both of which ended with his sacked within months.
Regardless of what anyone thinks of the time he was given at Crystal Palace, if de Boer does take charge at Ibrox and after four games his side have yet to even hit the back of the net there will be very few Rangers fans pleading for the European manager to be given more time to turn things around.

The Light Blues board face arguably the toughest decision of their reign in power when it comes to the manager’s position and Dave King and co. need to make sure they don’t take any unnecessary gambles.
