Todd Cantwell delivers two-word Max Aarons verdict as Rangers transfer confirmed
Blackburn Rovers star Todd Cantwell has shared his honest thoughts on Max Aarons’ summer transfer to Rangers.
The talented midfielder left Ibrox last summer, having been unable to see eye-to-eye with Philippe Clement before handing in a transfer request, ultimately ending his career in Glasgow.
Since returning to England, the 27-year-old has notched three goals and seven assists in 39 appearances for the Championship club and has continued to share his thoughts on the announcements back at Ibrox.
Cantwell was stunned by the appointment of Russell Martin, citing “exciting times” ahead for the Light Blues, and the playmaker has now shared his thoughts on the Gers’ latest signing.
Aarons has joined the Light Blues on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, having spent last season with Valencia, and the player full-back has previous experience with Cantwell at Norwich City.

Football Insider verdict
Martin has some serious rebuilding to do ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Football Insider understanding that the manager wants to build his squad around Hamza Igamane and Nico Raskin.
That, however, could be difficult for the Gers as Igamane continues to be heavily linked with a move to Ligue 1, having seriously impressed during his first campaign in Scotland.
Cyriel Dessers could still leave Rangers after being linked with exits during the past couple of transfer windows, with many fans undecided on his abilities despite bagging 51 goals in 109 appearances.

Football Insider understands that Liverpool have opened contract talks with Rangers-linked Owen Beck, with newly promoted Wrexham also interested in the left-back.
Multiple ageing players must be replaced if the Gers are to compete with Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title again, and even more, attempt to compete in European competitions.
The early signing of Aarons suggests that fans have plenty more transfers to look forward to as the summer transfer window progresses, but they also need to control their expectations.
