Tony Xia has urged Aston Villa to focus on improving each game and forget about working out the maths of a late promotion charge.
Steve Bruce has hinted that winning seven of their final eight games could be enough to get into the play-offs, despite sitting 12th in the Championship table right now.
The Midlands giants have been nowhere near the promotion picture this season and would need a near-perfect run to make a late surge.
They are currently 11 points adrift of sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday with just eight league games remaining.
Villa owner Xia believes that the team need to focus on their individual performances and go from there.
“Let’s focus on every game and improve the performance. No distractions with calculating points,” Xia wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Villa have managed to find some form recently under Bruce, who was appointed as the manager in October.
They have won five of their last six games and kept a clean sheet in each of those wins.
Bruce has managed to strengthen the backline since his arrival and that has played a crucial role in their success.
Villa were expected to compete for promotion this campaign following their relegation from the top flight.
However, they have been a long way short from the standards of the league’s top teams and it would be a remarkable achievement if they managed to be in the play-off set-up at the end of the season.
