Tony Xia sends Twitter message to Aston Villa fans
By Amir Mir
Tony Xia believes Aston Villa can achieve anything as he received a warm welcome at Villa Park prior to their 3-0 win against Rotherham on Saturday.
Villa’s new chief was introduced to 33,286 fans at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon as the Chinese businessman made his first appearance in front of the home fans since purchasing the club for £75 million.
Supporters gave Xia a raucous reception as he stepped foot onto the Villa Park turf, with supporters sounding their appreciation for purchasing the club after relegation last season.
“The fans were amazing,” Xia told the club’s official website. “Their reception for me – and getting a win on my first home game as chairman – gave me a wonderful feeling. Their support of the team was incredible.”
“I would say to them ‘if we keep going like this with players and fans together, we can achieve anything’.”

The Chinese Tycoon was treated to an empathic victory, with striker Rudy Gestede (2) and academy product Jack Grealish finding the net in a thumping win for the Midlands side.
It was the first win under Xia’s reign as owner, and a first win for manager Roberto Di Matteo, after back-to-back defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and fourth-tier side Luton Town.
Di Matteo will be hoping to add to that success when they welcome Huddersfield Town to Villa Park on Tuesday night after their victory against Newcastle.
