Tony Xia: I am really mad at Aston Villa player for display against Norwich
By Harry Sykes
Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has revealed on Twitter that he is “really mad” at an unnamed player for his performance in Tuesday’s defeat to Norwich.
Steve Bruce’s side lost 1-0 to their Championship rivals with a goal from Nelson Oliveira proving to be the difference between the two teams.
Bruce subsequently lamented what he claimed was the worst display since he took over as manager from Roberto Di Matteo in October.
It was a view shared by outspoken owner Xia, who took to his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning to reveal that he was still stewing at the display at Villa Park.
Replying on Twitter to a message from Villa ambassador and popular former player Ian Taylor, Chinese businessman Xia said he was “not just disappointed” but “really mad with someone not showing up and fighting”.

Ian, not just disappointed. Really mad with someone not showing up and fighting after I watched video again. Far from being professionals! https://t.co/5ZlYOnbztL

Xia, who explained that he had watched the match for a second time on video, did not identify the player he was alluding to.
The owner also hit out at the lack of professionalism from the players, who appeared to have been transformed since the change of managers.
Villa’s second defeat in Bruce’s 10 matches at the helm mean they remain rooted in 13th in the table, although their haul of 28 points means they are jus six points adrift of the play-off positions.
In other Aston Villa news, the club’s supporters have fumed on Twitter at Gabriel Agbonlahor’s display against Norwich.
