Tony Xia rates Aston Villa season out of 100, reveals what is needed in 2017/18
By Will Butcher
Tony Xia has called on Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce to deliver “results” next season after a disappointing 2016-17 campaign.
Villa finished the Championship season in the bottom half in 13th place, after a dismal start to the season under Roberto Di Matteo saw the Midlands outfit flirt with relegation.
Posting on his personal Twitter account following Villa’s last-gasp 1-1 draw against Brighton, owner Xia rated his side’s season as a 59 out of 100.
He also claimed that “only results matter” next season and wants to see Bruce get the points that could see Villa gain promotion back to the Premier League after relegation in 2015-16.
59 of ????. That's I rated our season. Only results matters. We need RESULT next season. #UTV

Villa were largely inconsistent throughout the season, winning only one of their first 12 Championship outings before failing to win once in 10 between December and February.

However, seven wins in eight immediately after that winless streak of 10 saw them finish in mid-table mediocrity this season.
Bruce is likely to be busy in the summer transfer window and their success in the market could prove pivotal in orchestrating a promotion push next season.
The promotion expert, who has achieved a place in the Premier League from the Championship four times during his managerial career, must sort out issues such as in between the sticks.
Pierluigi Gollini is currently on loan at Atalanta, while Mark Bunn’s contract is set to expire and Sam Johnstone is only on loan from Manchester United.
Solving problem areas such as these could give Villa the foundation to go on and challenge the Championship’s biggest sides during 2017-18.
In other Aston Villa news, the Midlands outfit are one of four sides interested inthis Championship colossus.
