Paul Robinson showered Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio with praise following his performance in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 revealed that he really rated Patricio and added that he thought he had been outstanding in 2019.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper could do nothing to stop Lys Mosset opening the scoring for Sheffield United on Sunday in the 2nd minute of the match, but did make three-point blanks saves either side of half-time to keep his side in it.
Robinson shared that he thought Patricio’s reactions from close range were top-draw and added that he thought the veteran proved his worth against the Blades.
When asked about Patricio’s display against Chris Wilder’s side, Robinson told Football Insider: “I really rate Patricio as I think he is outstanding for club and country.
“He’s been outstanding this year, he proved his worth at the weekend against a very good Sheffield United team.
“We’ve seen them take to the Premier League like a duck to water and they’re not an easy team to beat or take points off, so y’ know I think Patricio’s performance was very very much-needed at the weekend.
“I thought his agility, his reactions from close range were top draw.”
Patricio arrived at the Molineux in July 2018 after joining Nuno Espirito Santo’s side from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.
The 31-year-old shot keeper has managed to rack up 15 clean sheets while conceding 72 goals, in the 61 appearances he has made for the club so far.
