Tosin Adarabiyo, Roberto Firmino react to Neco Williams’ Nottingham Forest post

Neco Williams caught plenty of attention online after Nottingham Forest claimed an historic victory over Man United on Wednesday.

Anthony Elanga was Nuno Espirito Santo’s hero once again, beating several players before slotting a shot past Andre Onana to make The City Ground erupt after just five minutes on 1 April.

The win marked the Reds’ first-ever Premier League double over the Red Devils, with Ruben Amorim‘s side left empty-handed ahead of a journey back to Old Trafford and an upcoming Manchester derby.

While Williams was not nearly at his best on the night, his continuous hard work up and down the pitch helped Forest move within touching distance of securing Champions League football for next season.

Morgan Gibbs-White celebrates historic victory against Man United

Taking to Instagram [1 April], Williams, who was “gutted” after the FA Cup win, wrote: “Hope you all enjoyed last night – we certainly did. Proud to wear this shirt” with three red emojis.

The defender felt the love from Morgan Gibbs-White and Elanga in the comments, with both Chelsea‘s Tosin Adarabioyo and former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino liking the post.

Nuno Espirito Santo takes another massive step with Nottingham Forest

Football Insider verdict

Forest are trying everything to tie Espirito Santo down to a new deal, and after their narrow victory over the Red Devils on Wednesday night, it is easy to understand why the fans are desperate.

Fifth-placed Man City are now nine points behind the Reds in the Premier League table, suggesting that Champions League football has been all but confirmed ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

There are still eight matches left to be played, including clashes against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea, but Espirito Santo’s side are now unbeaten in six matches across all competitions.

Had Forest not achieved so much this season, other clubs in the Premier League might have come calling for Gibbs-White, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi, but the Reds will be less inclined to sell now.

It has been a truly remarkable campaign so far already, and with the FA Cup still to fight for and the chance to beat Pep Guardiola’s side again, it could get even better.
