By Harvey Byrne

Tottenham academy sensation Marcus Edwards is in line for a promotion after he trained with the first team on Wednesday, according to a journalist.

The north London outfit are currently gearing up for a Europa League tie which will see them face Gent at Wembley on Thursday evening.

Spurs are currently down a one-goal deficit after losing 1-0 in Belgium, but they could be looking to move young starlet Edwards into the squad for the clash.

ESPN’s Tottenham correspondent Dan Kilpatrick shared on his personal Twitter account that the 18-year-old was with the seniors on Wednesday ahead of the clash.

Edwards has only made one senior appearance for Tottenham previously, coming as 75th minute substitute in the EFL Cup tie against Gillingham earlier in the campaign.

However, he is considered a massive prospect at the club and fans were furious after he was left out of the squad for the weekend’s clash with Fulham.

But, manager Mauricio Pochettino could now be listening to and he could be about to hand Edwards a surprise place in his side for the match against Gent in England’s iconic stadium.
