Tottenham have reached an agreement over personal terms with Sampdoria sensation Patrick Schick, according to a report.
Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, as quoted by FC Inter 1908, which provides content for sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, claim the Premier League club has agreed the terms of a contract offer with Schick’s agent Pavel Paska.
It is said that this has opened the door to Schick quitting Serie A for Spurs in the summer transfer window.
However, Italian big hitters Juventus and Inter Milan, German giants Borussia Dortmund and French club Marseille are also keen to sign the dynamic striker.
Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that the Czech striker’s representatives want him to move to a new league abroad, while Sampdoria are keen for him to stay for at least another season.
The will of Schick’s representative Paska, who is one of Europe’s most high profile agents, could prove decisive to the player’s summer transfer plans.
Schick has caught the eye of Europe’s elite clubs after bagging 13 goals and providing three assists in 33 league and cup appearances for Sampdoria this season.
He has an outstanding goals-per-minutes ratio for the campaign, with his strikes coming every 113 minutes, an excellent return for such a demanding league.
The three-times Czech international has a release clause set at £18million.
Football Insider verdict
Schick will not be the most well-known of Tottenham’s summer targets but he would still be an astute signing. The 21-year-old has height, pace and power and would add further physicality to Spurs’ already imposing side. The Czech can be a mate for Harry Kane as either a back-up striker or a number 10. But his real use may come as proven cover. Unlike Vincent Janssen, the Dutch destroyer who was masterful in the Eredivisie, his goals have come in a tough league.
