Tottenham backed to agree Eric Dier deal soon after source’s reveal – expert
Tottenham could cash in on Eric Dier this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton suggested it may be time for Dier to “try something new” and move on from the London club.
The 29-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Lilywhites after joining from Sporting in 2014.
According to The Telegraph (29 June), the defender is determined to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and fight for his place under new head coach Ange Postecoglou.
On 23 June, Football Insider revealed that Spurs are interested in Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo as Postecoglou looks to add defensive reinforcements this summer.
The former Man City man could be available for a cut-price fee as he enters the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage.
Hutton suggested Dier may fall down the pecking order if he stays at the London club next season.
“I think if you look at some of the players Ange is looking at now, he is looking to strengthen at the back,” he told Football Insider.
“I think it has been an area where Tottenham have struggled recently. They have had the same players in there for a long period of time now.

“They have been through a lot at the football club with the fans and not finishing where they think they should. I think it is probably about time that he moved on to something fresh and new.
“So I think that will probably be the direction he will move in.“
