Tottenham backed to complete multiple January signings after £15.2m windfall - pundit

Tottenham will use their Champions League prize money to make multiple signings in January.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ January plans.

As per Alasdair Gold (2 November) Spurs earned an extra £8.2million for progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The club also earned £2.4million for each of their three group stage wins, taking their total prize money to £15.4million.

McManus is certain this will be spent in January as Antonio Conte looks to reshape his squad.

“You just feel like Tottenham may need a fresh face or two in there,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“I know they have had injury problems this season so their attackers haven’t been able to find a rhythm but the right transfer can spark something.

“It happened last season with Kulusevski, he was brilliant in the second half of the season and played a big role in them qualifying for the Champions League.

“The money is there for Tottenham, we know that. Then they reached the knockouts of the Champions League as well so that’s more money to spend.

“We know Conte wants to mould that squad into something he can work with so there could be a few comings and goings.

“I think the Champions League money helps and of course they can attract top-quality players because they are still in Europe.”

Tottenham crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday (9 November), losing 2-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Spurs’ final game before the World Cup is against Leeds United on Saturday (12 November).

In other news, a pundit has backed Tottenham to complete two ‘big’ signings in January as a mass exodus is on the cards.
