Aston Villa are still unsure as to whether Tottenham Hotspur loanee Josh Onomah will be with them beyond the end of the month.
The Birmingham Mail has suggested that the attacking midfielder may well be returning to north London during the transfer window after comments made by the Spurs manager.
Onomah, 20, has made 25 outings for the Birmingham outfit since he joined the club on a season-long loan in August, scoring four goals in that time.
But Tottenham have reserved the right to recall their attacking mid who is behind Jack Grealish for the number 10 jersey at Villa.
“Josh still continues there but we still have a week or 10 days to decide if he stays or we bring him back here,” Pochettino said in the Birmingham Mail.
Football Insider verdict:
This would be a huge blow for Villa’s promotion hopes if they were to lose the attacker now. The youngster has shown glimpses of what he is capable of doing going forward, and also had a hand in defensive duties as he is quite happy to track back and do the dirty work. It is unlikely that Pochettino is going to use Onomah in the final months of the season, as the club push for a fourth-placed finish, and the likelihood that the manager will choose the youngster’s inexperience over the likes of Dele Alli and Erik Lamela is slight. Spurs should allow Onomah see the end of the season with the Villans and increase his minutes on the pitch.
