Tottenham ‘buying five players’ after Harry Kane exit update – expert

Tottenham have “big shoes to fill” if they are to try and replace Harry Kane.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton said that if the club can keep hold of Kane then the squad is in better shape for next season.

The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and could be on the move this summer.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Man United but Football Insider revealed (26 June) that the club are now pessimistic about landing the striker.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring Kane to Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Sports (29 June), the German giants have seen a verbal offer of £60million plus add-ons rejected.

New boss Ange Postecoglou has already added James Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to his side ahead of a big summer window.

Hutton insisted if Spurs sell Kane they need to bring in an equivalent player.

Tottenham for a number of years seem to have done that, buying four or five players when they get a lot of money for one,” he told Football Insider.

It is always kind of big shoes to fill no matter how many players you bring in.

I just think from goalkeeper, defensively and into midfield Tottenham need work.

If they can keep Harry Kane then forward areas they are in good shape but the rest of it, there are a lot of players who have been there for a long time and not quite produced.

I think it is going to take time, it is not going to happen in the one window which will give Ange a little bit of time.
