Tottenham fans might well have been delighted with the FA Cup quarter final draw on Saturday night but it will mean nothing if they cannot overcome Rochdale – and now they have the added pressure of knowing what awaits them.
Even before the day of Spurs’ fifth round tie at Spotland, the draw for the next round was conducted, and it saw the north London club handed a visit to either Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea City, after the two clubs played out a 0-0 draw to result in a replay.

Supporters were quick to jump on to Twitter and voice their delight at what will be perceived an easier tie than some of the other teams in the draw, but it could be a real problem for Mauricio Pochettino and his men come Sunday afternoon.
The Lilywhites now know that victory over the League One strugglers would put them a step closer to ending their trophy drought, and with another ‘lesser’ club in the next round, their eyes will already be on the semi finals.
Looking so far ahead could prove to be a big distraction for the players, which in turn could lead to mistakes in what could well be a tricky tie at Rochdale, with the club’s chief having described it as the biggest match in the northern side’s recent history.
For Spurs, they have a potential banana skin against a pumped up Rochdale side with a favourable draw lined up in the next round, knowing that just four more wins would earn them the FA Cup and end 10 years without a trophy.
It seems promising for Pochettino and his side, but looks can be deceiving, and it could be a recipe for disaster.
