By Danny Wright
Tottenham have confirmed they have made three changes to their side to face Huddersfield as they return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Mauricio Pochettino has opted to recall Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli to his team after the midweek 3-0 win over APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.
Serge Aurier misses out of the side as he serves a one-match suspension he picked up when he was red carded in last week’s 3-2 win over West Ham.
Senior player Moussa Sissoko has been axed from the starting line-up, with Harry Winks retaining his spot while Heung-min Son has also been dropped.
Spurs announced the team news on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off.
Tottenham will have to ensure three points in Yorkshire this weekend to make sure they keep in touch with the Premier League leaders as they go into the second international break of the campaign.
Pochettino’s men can leapfrog Chelsea into third place the standings before they face Manchester City on Saturday evening and potentially move within two points of the leading Manchester clubs.
Spurs have not played against Huddersfield since 1972 when they won 2-1 in a League Cup clash at White Hart Lane while the Terriers have not earned a victory against the London club since 1956.
David Wagner’s men can potentially move above Tottenham in the league table if they pull of an upset this weekend, building on what has already been a solid start to the season for the Championship play-off winners of last term.
