Ben Davies predicts Tottenham clash against Liverpool

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has stated that Liverpool are “not on the greatest run” but they are still a “very, very good team”.

The 23-year-old made the comments ahead of the Premier League title clash between the duo at Anfield this Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side go into the fixture having lost four of their last five matches in all competitions, including losing 2-0 at relegation-threatened Hull last time out.

By contrast, Spurs have won three of their last five games in all competitions, including seeing off a stubborn Middlesbrough side last Saturday.

Now, the duo will meet for an important league fixture, with a defeat for either side harming their title challenge.

Ahead of the match, left-back Davies offered his thoughts on the Reds and the current mindset of his team.

“We’ve seen they’re not on the greatest run but they’re still a very, very good team,” said Davies, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“They’re going to be dangerous to play against, especially at home. It’s one we’re looking forward to and we’ve got to go into it looking to get the points.

“We’ve got a young squad here and our aim is to keep improving all the time. The manager drills that into us and it’s up to us to show it on the pitch.”

Wales international Davies has played 16 Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup matches this season.

He has started the last two league encounters for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and is likely to continue that run with first choice left-back Danny Rose still injured.

During the reverse fixture in August, the Merseyside club picked up a point at White Hart Lane with Rose cancelling out James Milner’s first-half penalty.

Now, the north London club will be looking to close the nine-point gap on leaders Chelsea with fifth-placed Liverpool 13 points behind.
