Tottenham expert 'baffled' by Daniel Levy after new manager twist
Alan Hutton is “baffled” Tottenham have not secured a new manager yet.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said Xabi Alonso could be a good option but has told Daniel Levy to “get it done” sooner rather than later.
According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf (2 May), Alonso has emerged as a frontrunner for the manager’s job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after an impressive season with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Lilywhites are still on the hunt for a permanent successor to Antonio Conte who left the club in March.
Spurs had been fighting for a Champions League place earlier this season but after three defeats from their last five fixtures, the London club have dropped down to seventh and are nine points behind fourth-placed Man United with just two games left to play.
Hutton suggested Alonso could be a good appointment, but a decision needs to be made as soon as possible.

“There is a young manager who has started off really well in his managerial career,” he told Football Insider.
“He likes to play football, I think he ticks a lot of boxes. It still just baffles me that a team like Tottenham have not got somebody in place yet.
“I just believe that a team that was vying for top four, Champions League football, should have a plan. You do not see it at this moment in time.
“I think it is really important that they get somebody in as soon as possible. They need a direction nailed down for the new season.
“I think that could be a good appointment but you have to go and get it done. Daniel Levy needs to get somebody in place and kick start everything.“
