Tottenham expert lambasts Sanchez after another 'reckless' move

Davison Sanchez’s error-ridden performance during Tottenham v Leicester may have harmed his chances of starting games in future.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Sanchez helped Leicester to an early lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (17 September) when his challenge upended James Justin inside the 18-yard box.

The former Ajax defender, who was returning to the side after missing games against Sporting CP and Fulham, was substituted just before the hour mark.

The Colombia international made just 17 starts last season with Romero’s arrival consigning him to a rotation role.

Wenham was left fuming with Sanchez’s “reckless” antics.

“Davinson Sanchez did disappoint,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It wasn’t just the penalty actually. In the buildup to that goal, he misguided a header that lead to the ball going forward into that position.

“Then it was a really reckless challenge to open the game like that and obviously, if you commit a foul on the line then it is a penalty.

“That was a really disappointing start to the game. Sanchez has been really solid this season as well so that was unfortunate for him.

“Luckily for us, there are now other options when players have a bad game.”

Sanchez has made four Premier League appearances this season playing the full 90 minutes on three of those occasions.

Tottenham are next in Premier LEague action against Arsenal on 1 October.
