Tottenham expert lambasts Villarreal amid Giovanni Lo Celso update today
Tottenham outcast Giovanni Lo Celso is no closer to joining Villarreal now than he was at the beginning of the transfer window.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reported on Monday (8 August) that Villarreal are close to re-signing Lo Celso on loan.
The 26-year-old midfielder left Spurs in January and spent a productive second half of the season on loan at the Spanish side.
Lo Celso was left out of Spurs’ pre-season trip to South Korea and did not make the squad for the opening day clash against Southampton – sending a clear message about his status at the club.
Wenham claims he has been hearing the same updates about Lo Celso’s future for weeks.

“I’m going to keep sharing rumours every week until it happens,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Every week it is the same story, nothing happens. Is there any update? I’m not sure. I think this will just drag on until Villarreal get him for 50p.
“It is very frustrating. If I had my way, I would sell him to anyone who came in who isn’t Villarreal. Just to teach them a lesson about reaching the Champions League semi-final and saying you have no money.
“It’s really boring from Villarreal.”
Lo Celso made 19 appearances for Tottenham in the first half of the 2021-22 season.
He has made 84 total appearances for the club.
