Tottenham fans all say the same thing about Cristian Romero’s future after new message – ‘The final dagger’
Tottenham fans all believe that Cristian Romero has issued a goodbye message to the club on social media after his latest scandal during their battle against relegation.
Romero was caught up in a storm last week as he spent time in his native Argentina rather than with his Tottenham teammates ahead of their relegation grudge match against Everton.
He caused outrage among fans for the trip, especially going to his old club Belgrano, but returned to the UK in time to watch on as Spurs beat the Toffees on Sunday afternoon.
The World Cup winner was seen celebrating wildly with his teammates as Joao Palhinha scored a 43rd-minute winner to keep them safe above rivals West Ham.
He has now taken to Instagram after the end of a turbulent season, with fans thinking that his latest message is a hint about Tottenham’s transfer plans for the summer.

Romero took to social media on Monday night to send a message to Spurs’ supporters, insisting that he hopes this season “serves as a lesson” for all at the club to improve “both on and off the pitch.”
He went on to add: “No matter what happens, players and coaches may come and go, but the ones who are always there through the good times and the bad are you. You deserve nothing but the best. The best, always.”
The Tottenham captain has been heavily linked with a move away over the last 12 months, and many fans now believe that he has all but confirmed an exit with way his new caption is worded.
Taking to X to react to the news, one fan said: “Sounds very much as a goodbye. Completely fine with that.”
Another added: “‘Players and coaches may come and go’, yeah, he’s off.”
While one supporter wrote: “That was the final dagger towards the board.”
Who could Romero join if he leaves Spurs?
Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Romero could leave Spurs this summer after his dad revealed the terms of his release clause last month.
Despite extending his deal until 2029 last summer, Romero can apparently leave North London for between £37.8million and £53million ahead of next season.
Atletico Madrid have been closely linked to his services in the last 12 months, while reports from Spain have claimed that Diego Simeone’s side, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among the clubs that can activate his release clause.
He certainly seems more likely to move away from England if he does leave Spurs, with PSG also potentially keen on a move.
