Tottenham fans call on Pochettino to start 25-year-old in second-leg tie v Gent

By Will Butcher

Tottenham fans are keen to see Christian Eriksen start against Europa League opponents Gent on Thursday night.

Mauricio Pochettino will be looking for his side to overturn a 1-0 deficit, after losing to striker Jeremy Perbet’s goal in Belgium last week during the first leg played at the Ghelamco Arena.

Denmark international Eriksen starred on Sunday after being omitted three days earlier, as Spurs secured a 3-0 win over Championship side Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The former Ajax ace supplied two assists during the win, as striker Harry Kane secured Spurs’ place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup with a wonderful hat-trick.

Now, Tottenham fans are desperate to see Eriksen and Kane link up for the second time in five days against Gent, as they prepare to face Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s side at Wembley.

Eriksen did not start against Gent in the first leg, with Argentine boss Pochettino only opting to use his number 23 with 10 minutes remaining as he came on for Harry Winks.

Now, fans are anxious to see the versatile attacker start against Gent and continue his fine form this season, which has seen him score seven goals and provide 11 assists during his 33 outings.

In other Tottenham news, a Sky Sports pundit has claimed Spurs would be foolish not to try and sign this Premier League defender.
