Tottenham fans demand academy product earns senior promotion
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham supporters on Twitter have demanded that Harry Winks earns a call-up to the England senior squad.
The 21-year-old is currently enjoying his breakout season at White Hart Lane and has become an important player under Mauricio Pochettino.
The central midfielder is a product of the north London club’s academy and has managed to integrate into the first-team, leaving fans calling for him now to make the step up with England.
Sky Sports’ Spanish correspondent Guillem Balague has dismissed speculation that Winks could feature for the Spanish national team.
Balague has reported that Winks’ great-grandparents are his Spanish heritage and that means any chance of him playing for Spain are impossible, as cited by Spanish outlet AS.

England manager Gareth Southgate will name his senior squad on Thursday ahead of a friendly against Germany, before facing Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier.
Spurs fans have pleaded with Southgate to promote Winks to the senior set-up for his first ever call-up, despite the youngster only featuring once for England’s Under-21s side so far.

Reports of Winks being called up by England. It's on the cards and England need a competent CM who can dictate play

Winks has become a regular for Spurs this season and is often used as a substitute by Pochettino.
The midfielder is well recognised for his quality in possession and he gives the north London club a calmness on the ball.
He has got to dislodge powerhouses Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama if he wants a place in the starting XI, but he has become increasingly more involved as the season develops.
Winks has now racked up 31 appearances this campaign and is being tipped for big things at White Hart Lane, but has only made two Premier League starts so far.
In other Tottenham news, the club’s supporters reacted on Twitter after Harry Kane provided an injury update.
