Tottenham fans demand Kevin Danso captaincy as star speaks ahead out ahead of Nottingham Forest clash
Tottenham Hotspur fans are pushing to see Kevin Danso awarded the captaincy for the remainder of the season and beyond.
The Austrian centre-back has insisted ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash with Nottingham Forest that it is “time for us to show some fight,” while adding that he finds it “very easy” to put his body on the line for the team, during an interview on the club’s X account.
He emphasised how important the support of the fans could be to help turn the game in the Lilywhites’ favour, while also admitting that the players have to “want it more than anything” in order to get three points on Sunday.
Spurs are heading into the clash on the back of a draw away at Liverpool and a win over Atletico Madrid in midweek, their first since Igor Tudor’s arrival at the club.
Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are currently separated by just one point in the league table, and fans are adamant that Danso should play a key leadership role in both that clash and the rest of the season.

Danso hasn’t featured as much as he would have liked for Tottenham this season, as he has still started just 10 Premier League games in 2025-26.
The established centre-back pairing of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have largely kept him out of the team, although he has been called upon on the occasions when the team have switched to play a back three.
Nevertheless, Danso’s heart on the sleeve style of play has endeared him to the Spurs faithful, who have now begun to call for him to receive a leadership role within the club.
Romero and Van de Ven have shared the captaincy throughout the campaign so far, but the fans are now crying out for Danso to be given the armband long-term.
Supporters flooded into the replies of their club’s X post to praise Danso’s mentality, with several fans coming together to suggest that he would be a strong candidate to be a future captain of their team.
One fan labelled the 27-year-old as a “lovely man” who “knows what it means to wear the shirt,” while another even went as far as to suggest that it is a “privilege” to have him in North London.

- @SJGTHFC: “Super Kev. Proper Spurs.”
- @Olusesi_SZN: “Great player, Great leader.”
Igor Tudor gains backing of Spurs squad
Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Tudor now has the backing of the Spurs players after their recent upturn in both results and performances.
The Lilywhites fought hard to take a point away from Anfield last weekend, before the victory over Atletico had fans gushing, despite the team’s elimination from the Champions League.
Sources say that while the interim boss remains under pressure from those above him, the players have begun to show belief in his project, and are starting to get on the Croatian’s side.
That could not have come at a better time, given the fixture that lies ahead of them this weekend, as Spurs could fall into the bottom three if they fall to defeat against Forest.
The Reds came away with a 2-1 win in last year’s edition of this fixture, and Tottenham will be desperate to avoid a repeat of that outcome.
