'Phenomenal', 'One hell of a signing' – Tottenham fans react as deal for international reportedly close
By Harry Sykes
Tottenham are reportedly closing in on their move for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier, and fans are delighted.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported earlier today that the clubs were very close to an agreement over a transfer said to be for £23million.
That follows on from a previous L’Equipe report that said personal terms were also 95% agreed.
It sounds like Mauricio Pochettino is homing in on his second transfer of the summer, after landing Davinson Sanchez in a £36million deal from Ajax.
Sky Sports reported that the 39-time international was having a medical today ahead of his club-record £42million move.

And Tottenham fans are understandably delighted, after worrying at the start of the Premier League campaign when they were the only team in the top flight that hadn’t strengthened.
Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy might have left it late but fans are desperately hoping that Aurier becomes the second Tottenham signing of the summer.
Some Tottenham fans are understandably concerned about his controversial past, after he spent a night in jail and was given a two-month suspended sentence for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
However, most only really care about what he can do on the pitch and are willing to forgive him his transgressions if he’s as good as they think he is – here are a selection of their reactions on Twitter:
Aurier would be the perfect replacement for Walker, could even be an upgrade. Worth the risk IMO. Get it done @SpursOfficial

Aurier is an absolute phenomenal right back, if you want the team to succeed it's a must. End of day, could be worse-could be Marcus Alonzo

Aurier is a right back – trippier looked crocked on Sunday and walker peters not ready. We need some cover / a different option to trips.

Getting Aurier for half of what we got from Walker, seems great business. He is nearly equal & younger. But off field issues a risk, always

regardless of the past & what's been said and done, Serge Aurier would be one hell of a signing for Spurs

I totally understand the qualms some #thfc fans have regarding Aurier, but when it comes to football, I don't care much for morality..

I would really love Aurier at Spurs I hope he comes to Tottenham. He is a complete RWB. And much better them Walker.

If we're looking to bring in Aurier or Keita Balde, Poch is definitely backing himself to handle problem children. He's not shown that yet.
