Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight that Jan Vertonghen has returned to training ahead of the team’s Premier League clash against Huddersfield.

Spurs announced on their official social media account on Friday afternoon that the defender is back in full training after missing the last two matches with an ankle problem.

Vertonghen, 30, has been a mainstay of the Spurs side this season and has started 27 of their 28 league fixtures during what many claim has been his best campaign for the club since he joined.

The centre-back broke down in training last Saturday, and was unable to face Crystal Palace last Sunday or League One side Rochdale on Wednesday night, which were won 1-0 and 6-1.

Tottenham’s home match at Wembley against Huddersfield promises to be a tough test as the visitors aim to win their third consecutive top-flight clash for the first time since 1956.
