Tottenham fans react on Twitter to £16m attacking midfielder target joining rivals

Southampton announced the signing of Sofia Boufal from Lille on Monday – and Tottenham fans took to Twitter to question why their club hadn’t made a move for the Morroco international.
The south coast club revealed the signing of Boufal from Lille on Monday afternoon on their official Twitter page.

The Hampshire side confirmed the signing for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract and the BBC claim that it’s a club record £16million.
The youngster had also been linked with a move to White Hart Lane with French football site France Football claiming earlier this month that Spurs had turned their attention to the 22-year-old after a change in ownership at Marseille delayed their transfer of Georges Kevin-N’Koudou.
Tottenham fans took to social media regarding Boufal’s signing and many were disappointed that he hadn’t joined their club.

Pochettino wants a Mane type player at Spurs. But the club won't match Southampton's ambition and pay £16m for Boufal, #pathetic

Boufal is exactly what Spurs needed. But no, they continue to pursue Zaha

Hmm Spurs moving cheap will cost them imo, replacing Chadli with GKN isn't an upgrade by any means.Boufal available yet not willing to buy

Boufal enjoyed a successful year in France last season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 35 encounters, helping his side finish in fifth place.
He suffered a knee injury in May which is likely to keep him out of action until September, but this didn’t deter Southampton from signing him.
The Morroco international joined Lille for £3million from then-Ligue 2 club Angers in January 2015, netting the Ligue 1 side a £13million profit.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Leicester City are set to rival Spurs for the signature of Sporting Lisbon’s Adrien Silva.
