Toby Alderweireld has informed Tottenham that he does not want to sign a new deal with the club – and fans on Twitter have brushed off the claims.
Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed on his personal website that talks between Aldeweireld and Spurs about a fresh agreement have collapsed.
The White Hart Lane faithful instantly shut down the claims, with many stating that he would go on to sign a new deal.
Alderweireld has a contract that runs until the summer of 2020, with one fan urging the club to sign him down to a new contract.
Supporters stated that the 28-year-old is an integral part of a team that is on course to secure back-to-back Champions League places.
Overall, fans dismissed the bombshell news surrounding Alderweireld and his future at the club.

Centre-back Alderweireld has been a key figure for Mauricio Pochettino’s title-chasing side this season where he has been a regular figure alongside Belgian teammate Jan Vertonghen.
He joined Spurs from La Liga outfit Athletico Madrid in 2015 after a successful loan spell at Southampton where he impressed under Pochettino’s guidance.
This season, Alderweireld has played 24 Premier League matches for the north London club, helping them secure an impressive 13 clean sheets during those matches.
As a result, Pochettino’s team are four points behind current league leaders Chelsea in the table where they have conceded the least amount of goals (22) this season.
Manchester United, who are sitting one place outside of the top four, have conceded 24 goals, with leaders Chelsea shipping 27 during their campaign.
