Toby Alderweireld has informed Tottenham that he does not want to sign a new deal with the club – and fans on Twitter have brushed off the claims.

Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed on his personal website that talks between Aldeweireld and Spurs about a fresh agreement have collapsed.

The White Hart Lane faithful instantly shut down the claims, with many stating that he would go on to sign a new deal.

Alderweireld has a contract that runs until the summer of 2020, with one fan urging the club to sign him down to a new contract.

Supporters stated that the 28-year-old is an integral part of a team that is on course to secure back-to-back Champions League places.

This season, Alderweireld has played 24 Premier League matches for the north London club, helping them secure an impressive 13 clean sheets during those matches.
