Tottenham fans have taken to social media to express their upset that star midfielder Christian Eriksen is missing completely for the club’s clash against Southampton on Sunday.
Spurs revealed their starting XI via their official Twitter account, confirming that the Argentine boss had chosen to make two changes from their 4-0 thrashing of Everton in their last outing.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and playmaker Eriksen both dropped out of the line up, with Michel Vorm and Moussa Sissoko coming in as their replacements, with the Lilywhites looking to complete the double over the Saints after battering them in a 5-2 win at Wembley on Boxing Day.
Of the pair of changes made by Pochettino, it was the Danish international’s absence which had fans turning to Twitter to express their heartbreak, with many questioning why Moussa Sissoko was the man chosen to replace the 25-year-old.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Eriksen is out, but we replace him with Sissoko not Lamela or Wanyama 🤷🏼♂️

Eriksen has a total of 28 appearances to his name this season, scoring seven goals and chipping in with eight assists, his latest strike finishing off a fine move during the hammering of Everton.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s men meanwhile come into the clash off the back of a 2-2 draw with Watford last weekend, with James Ward Prowse’s double cancelled out by a last minute equaliser from Abdoulaye Doucourse meaning the points were shared at Vicarage Road.
In other Tottenham news, a definitive update has been given on the club’s pursuit of a prodigal speed machine.
