'Effective as a screen door on a submarine' - Spurs fans react as attacker reportedly nears exit
Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente could be heading for the exit door this summer, according to a report in The Mirror, and it’s fair to say that Spurs fans are really not bothered if he goes.
The Spaniard, 33, only arrived at the North Londoners last summer from Swansea in what was reported to be a £15million switch.
But after scoring 15 goals for the Swans, his one goal return of this campaign for the Lillywhites has been a world away from replicating that kind of form in front of goal.
And now, after being linked with a return to his old side Atheltic Bilbao it looks like a quickfire exit will be on for the Spaniard who realistically always had little chance of knocking Harry Kane from the main striking role.
There were supporters who were offering to pay Llorente’s bus fare to leave, and others who said they would pack the player’s bags in what was an all-round acceptance that they were happy to see the back of the attacker.
Llorente was signed by the club to provide back-up to Kane, should the England forward succumb to injury.

But after only making 15 appearances for Spurs this season, it would seem that with his contract due to expire next summer, the club may choose to cash in on him now.
Here is a round-up on Twitter reactions from Spurs fans on the news:
And that is A-OK! ????????
I loved El Rey Leon at Bilbao, was so psyched we signed him, but he’s been as effective as a screen door on a submarine.
Can you imagine if we saved the money on him, Janssen & Soldado???? ?

I dont get the reason for signing him at all. He was never getting in ahead of Kane or even Sonny so why not let some more youth get first squad experience?

I’ll pack the bags myself…

Good I'll chip in for his bus fare home

To be honest Rick it would be a good thing if he does go, the amount of money it has cost the club for the amount he has done has been a total waste of money.
Better choices need to be made in this summer window.
