Tottenham are reportedly in pole position to sign Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga – and supporters of the London club have shown that they are not happy on social media.

The Sun has reported that Mauricio Pochettino is willing to part with £2million in order to sign up the 25-year-old as his third choice goalkeeper ahead of the new Premier League season.

It is understood that the ‘keeper is set to become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer in order to provide competition to Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm, who are currently the only first-team options for the club.

Pau Lopez returned to Espanyol after a loan spell with Spurs last season, and it seems that Pochettino is eager to re-unite with his former Saints player.

The Sun adds that Southampton are open to parting company with Gazzaniga after he spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan in the second tier of Spanish football with Rayo Vallecano, where he made 34 appearances across all competitions, keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.

Tottenham are the only team in the Premier League not to have signed a new player this summer, and with the new season just around the corner, supporters have made it clear that they are unhappy with the fact that Gazzaniga may be their first purchase by raging on social media.
