Tottenham have been linked with a move for Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand this summer and Spurs fans are not happy with the potential transfer.
With Danny Rose reportedly set for an exit from the club and Manchester United looking the most likely destination, that leaves space in the full-back spot for someone to come in and compete with Ben Davies for the position.
The Welsh international has handled his emergence into the starting XI with aplomb but with Spurs looking to cement their place as one of the biggest forces in the Premier League they need quality cover for every position.
Bertrand is set to leave the Saints regardless of their league status and with a £25million price-tag on his head, the defender has attracted interest from Everton and Newcastle United too.
The 28-year-old is under contract at St Mary’s until 2021 and has recently taken the captain’s armband.
Bertrand can play on the left of midfield so offers genuine versatility and having totalled 38 appearances for the Saints this season he has registered three assists from the left-back spot.
Nonetheless, in spite of his experience and obvious talent, that doesn’t seem to be enough of a lure to arise any interest from the Lillywhites faithful who were by and large disinterested in any move involving the Southampton ace.
Here is what Spurs fans had to say on Twitter regarding the club’s potential move for the left-sided flyer:
