Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Dele Alli performance v Burnley

Tottenham fans reacted jubilantly on Twitter after Dele Alli produced an encouraging performance against Burnley in the Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs recorded a 2-1 victory against Burnley at White Hart Lane to seal just their fourth victory in 10 league fixtures but it was a testing game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Alli has come under huge criticism in recent weeks due to a dip in form and there were calls for him to be dropped from the starting XI prior to kick-off.

The 20-year-old made a slow start to the game and struggled to keep up with the tempo, spurning yet more chances in the opening stages as Tottenham dominated.

Sloppy play from Tottenham lead to Burnley’s opener but Alli quickly responded with a goal of his own which helped to answer his critics.

It was his fourth league goal this season but he has only provided one assist.

Last season, he firmly consolidated his place as a key member of Pochettino’s first team and he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year after a sensational breakthrough season.

His performances earned him a call-up to the England squad but after disappointing performances, fans have grown increasingly frustrated.

They were glad that he picked his game up today. Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

In other Tottenham news, this is who should be blamed for Dele Alli’s drop in form, says Jermaine Jenas.
