Tottenham fans react on Twitter to latest shattering injury blow

By Will Butcher

Tottenham fans are growing worried that midfielder Harry Winks could be sidelined for a long period of time after injuring his ankle against Burnley.

Winks, 21, was stretchered off against Burnley on Saturday during Spurs’ 2-0 win after falling awkwardly on the touchline just before half-time.

It saw the Spurs academy product receive oxygen, and the Daily Mail have now claimed Spurs’ number 29 could be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Winks is set to undergo scans on Monday which will determine of the severity of his injury, which saw him come off at half time and replaced by France international Moussa Sissoko.

The England Under-21 international was not the only Spurs casualty, with Kenya captain Victor Wanyama also being withdrawn during the first half.

Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter in devastated fashion after hearing that Winks could be sidelined for the rest of the season, while some are clinging onto any remaining hope.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Winks has made 33 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, after breaking into the first team under the former Southampton manager.

Injuries to Winks and Wanyama leaves Pochettino with just Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in the middle of the park, with an away trip to Swansea up next.

In other Tottenham news, Simon Jordan believes this Spurs target has “bags of talent”.
