'Bags of talent' – Simon Jordan states reported Tottenham target deserves new contract
By Will Butcher
Simon Jordan has claimed that Wilfried Zaha is deserving of a new contract with Crystal Palace despite being reportedly targeted by Tottenham.
The Sun claim Palace are set to offer Zaha a new £110,000-a-week deal in order to keep him away from Spurs’ clutches, after he scored against league leaders Chelsea on the weekend.
Speaking to Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show on talkSPORT, former Palace owner Jordan claimed Zaha is deserving of the new deal if he can continue to produce in the Premier League.
“You pay them what they are worth and you try and make them what they are worth,” Jordan said, as quoted by Brazil’s personal Twitter account.
“He’s got bags of talent. At £35,000-a-week, whether we think it’s a lot of money or not, it is not in the Premier League.

It is believed that if Zaha signs a new deal with Palace, he will join Christian Benteke on £110,000-a-week and become the joint highest earner with the Selhurst Park club.
However, it remains to be seen if the Ivory Coast international will remain with the Eagles, as Spurs continue to be reported as showing an interest after failing to secure a January move.
Zaha scored Palace’s opener on Saturday with a low strike that evaded the reach of Thibaut Courtois, making the score 1-1 at Stamford Bridge, before Christian Benteke scored the winner.
Palace’s number 11 has scored six goals this season as well as supplying nine assists during his 28 league and cup encounters.
