Tottenham fans have reacted with panic and disappointment on Twitter after it was revealed Jan Vertonghen will undergo a scan on Monday to find out the extent of his ankle injury.
The centre-back was forced to come off during Tottenham’s 4-0 victory over West Brom on Saturday with suspected ankle ligament damage and reliable Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur revealed on Twitter that the player is set to find out the test results.

Terreur, who is renowned for being close to the Premier League-based Belgium players, also revealed there were fears it could be a serious ligament injury which could put the defender out for a lengthy spell.
Fans were not happy to hear the results are expected to be negative after Toby Alderweireld only just returned in defence following a two-month absence.

Spurs were also without Harry Kane for a lengthy period at the start of the season and they have just started to regain top form so it will certainly come as a major blow.
Vertonghen and Alderweireld are considered one of the best centre-back pairing in the Premier League yet neither have had much opportunity to play alongside each other this season.
In other Tottenham news, Redknapp gave his verdict on this transfer target.
