Tottenham fans urge club to sign Spaniard after Under-21s display

By Harvey Byrne

Tottenham fans on Twitter have urged the club sign goalkeeper Pau Lopez permanently following his European Championships display for the Spain Under-21s.

The 22-year shot stopper started between the sticks on Friday evening as the Spaniards ran our 1-0 victors in their group B clash against Serbia.

The goalkeeper’s clean sheet was noted as he helped keep the 10-men Serbian side out of his net on numerous occasions to ensure Spain finished top of their group with nine points from their three matches.

The youngster was being watched closely by fans of Spain and parent club Espanyol, but Tottenham supporters were also keeping an eye on him and after his clean sheet many were keen for the club to sign him up this summer.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Lopez made the switch to White Hart Lane last summer in a season-long loan deal.

He failed to make a single first team appearance for Tottenham with both Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm ahead of him in the goalkeeper pecking order.

But, Spurs have previously made a £3.4million bid according to the Guardian and fans could be granted their wishes soon.

In other Tottenham news, Son Heung-min has shared that he was scared of this Spurs teammate.
