Tottenham fans react on Twitter to teenage sensation training with first team

Marcus Edwards is in line for a promotion after training with the Tottenham first team ahead of their Europa League clash against Gent – and fans on Twitter are hoping he plays a part.

The Spurs academy sensation could take to the field against the Belgian side on Thursday night at Wembley with the away team holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg.

ESPN’s Tottenham correspondent Dan Kilpatrick shared on his personal Twitter account that the 18-year-old was with the seniors on Wednesday ahead of the clash.

Highly-rated Edwards has featured for Mauricio Pochettino’s side on only one occasion this term, but the Argentine is fond of giving the academy players minutes on the field.

The likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks have featured on a number of occasions during this campaign.

Fans on social media were hoping Edwards would be another name added to that list as one fan stated that he hopes he makes the bench.

Supporters believe that his absence from the under-21s could give him more of a chance of featuring for the senior team.

Furthermore, another fan questioned whether or not there will be more youngsters possibly taking to the field on Thursday night at the home of football.

One supporter believes that with Edwards in the squad the north London club will be stronger, while another joked that the attacker will get onto the pitch before striker Vincent Janssen.
